About me
Me personally…
I grew up in Norfolk, but I have lived in London for over 20 years. Norfolk and its countryside and coast have a firm place in my soul. I like to visit often because being in nature is my happy place. It provides me with a sense of calm in a busy London town.
I have a dog who gives me endless joy and love. I enjoy the walks, getting me out in nature. I love how the community opens up by owning a dog. I have embraced getting to know my neighbours and local dog walkers, sharing stories and advice.
I’m an ok gardener, with a love for roses passed on through the generations. If there is room in the garden, it will be filled. If there is a pot, it will be planted. I find it mindful and soothing in equal measure.
Me professionally…
My own journey in counselling over the years provided me with much support and has enriched my life in many ways. This experience encouraged my own professional path to offer the same help to others – it really can be life changing for good reason!
I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their lives. I love counselling and embrace the professional development I take part in to keep me up to date in all the latest counselling developments.
I previously worked in the corporate world for 20years, so I also appreciate the pressure that this working life can bring.
I have regular supervision and I am a registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Every session I will adhere to their code of ethics and conduct. What this really means is that your wellbeing is at the heart of every session we have together. The trust we build is based on the confidentiality I maintain.
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling. This means that I work with you by integrating different ideas and theories to best suit your needs (e.g., childhood difficulties, dreams, thought processes, values and beliefs, as examples). I work with the belief that you are the expert in you and everyone has the ability to grow no matter their circumstances.
I have also completed a professional course in Online and remote counselling, which enabled me to offer counselling in the pandemic and beyond.
I have been a volunteer at Camden Listening and Counselling Centre for some time and have also volunteered locally at Bromley Community Counselling Service seeing a range of clients with a very wide range of issues.
